Description
With his "Duets" based on keyboard pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, the Leipzig-based violinist and composer Ferdinand David (1810-1873) made a considerable contribution to Bach reception in the 19th century.
Bachs models, the Two-Part Inventions presented here as well as the Four Duets BWV 802–805, proved to be so ideal for the distribution on the two stringed instruments that David was even able to leave the pieces in the original keys. The present edition was published in 1984 in a thoroughly revised new printing with modern music engraving.
